Twitter

Published by sunnflr under from the author Edit This

Do y’all use twitter? I’ve only recently started. Some other writers on the Accentuate Writers Forum told me about it, and we are all following each other. I’ve also gained some new followers since signing up.

I had no idea what twitter was until last week! I was scared it would be hard to do, or too technical, or just no fun. Turns out, I was wrong. It’s really easy to use, and not too technical for me to figure out!

I like meeting new people on there, and just twitting back and forth with my friends. It’s also a cool way to promote articles and stories.

24 Hour Writing Contest

Published by sunnflr under from the author Edit This

Did any of you enter the 24 Hour Writing Contest held yesterday? I entered for the first time with some others from the Accentuate Writers Forum.

I have to say, I really enjoyed this contest! The others had told me it was fun, but I wasn’t sure exactly how it all worked. I love writing flash/really short fiction, so this particular contest was right up my alley.

I like my story. I really loved the other stories my friends on the forum wrote! It’s great that we all got the same exact prompt but came up with unique stories!

If any of you entered, good luck! Now the hard part starts…waiting to see who wins!

New Story Coming Soon

Published by sunnflr under from the author Edit This

A will start another new story soon. Hope y’all liked the last one. I know it was short, but that’s just the way it wanted to go! I enjoyed writing it.

I’ll try to make the next one a happy story, but I make no promises. For some reason I write dark better than happy. Do any of you authors out there find you are better at one particular type story than another? Or are you very versatile and just write about everything?

I can write about other stuff, but the story flows better when there are darker elements to it. I hope you like whatever story I come up with next!

New Series Starting

Published by sunnflr under from the author Edit This

I’ve decided to change stories on this blog. I will be continuing the Night Stalker Series on my blogger blog. The name of the blog is Angel Sharum’s Short Fiction if you would like to look it up…since I’m not supposed to put links to other sites here. I started Clarissa’s story today, so be sure to check it out if you wish to keep up with the series.

I am going to start a new story on this blog tomorrow. It will be quite different from the Night Stalker Series, but I hope you find it just as interesting. The new story is a thriller/suspense story. It’s one I’ve been working on for a while, and I hope you enjoy it.

I decided to do a new story for this blog, not the one I had been working on. I think you’ll enjoy the new one just as well!

See you tomorrow with the first installment!

Amy’s Story Coming Soon

Published by sunnflr under from the author Edit This

I plan to start Amy’s story tomorrow or the next day. My husband and son are both home, so I don’t have as much writing time. Although they are enjoying the next Xbox, so I have more time than I normally would.

I hope you all liked Susan’s story. I had fun writing it and exploring more of Susan’s personality. It was nice finding out what made her tick, and act the way she did.

Amy is totally different from Rissa and Susan. She has her own unique personality and problems to deal with. I hope you’ll find something in her to like, but I’m not sure it’s possible!

Happy Holidays

Published by sunnflr under from the author Edit This

I, and all my Stalkers, wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I wanted to take the time to thank everyone who reads my stories. You don’t know how much I appreciate it. Every writer loves having their stuff read, but for us new writers, it’s especially nice!

I didn’t put together a Christmas part for Susan’s story. Thought vampires on Christmas might be a little much, even for me! Susan will be back and causing more trouble soon though!

I hope you all have a wonderful day and that you get to spend time with family and friends. Don’t eat too much!

Let’s Play a Game

Published by sunnflr under from the author Edit This

Let’s play a game. I offer this story for your consideration. It’s not just any ole story though. It has something unique about it. Read the story, then see if you can tell what’s different about it. Are you a discerning reader? Do you pay close attention to detail?

I’m curious to see how many people figure out what makes the story unique. I hope lots of you will play! It’s a short story, so won’t take up much of your time. I would love to know what you think of the story also, even if you don’t figure out what makes it different.

I made comments moderated for this post. (Hopefully) That way if the first person guesses right, others won’t know right off the bat.

So, who’s first? Let the games begin!

Dawn Break

Dawn slipped over the horizon. An orange hue colored the meadow, bringing new life to the wild flowers riotously growing there. Beth loved watching the sunrise over Lower Meadow. It was the literal bright spot of her day. Her way of making the drudgery easier to deal with.

Sighing, she continued on her way to Hearst House. She would have to hurry. Mrs. Atchison would skin her hide if she were late again. “Punctuality is a virtue, young lady.” Mrs. Atchison pronounced the last time she was late. Right before handing her a toothbrush, instructing her to clean the bathroom from top to bottom.

I will be out of this life soon, Beth thought. Cornelius promised it would be any day now.

Upon entering the side door, she heard Mrs. Atchison talking with someone. Recognizing Cornelius’s voice, she rushed forward. His next words stopped her in her tracks, however.

“The wedding will be on Saturday, June first. You are to send the invitations no later than next Monday. We want everything to be perfect. Alicia is finally home from London, ready to go ahead. I have assured her all is well. She is secure in my devotion,” he emphasized. “There will be no reason for her to postpone this time. No reasons! Do I make myself clear, Mrs. Atchison?”

“Yes, Sir, I understand perfectly.”

“Very good then, I leave it in your capable hands.”

Beth could not believe what she had just heard. Cornelius was getting married. To Alicia, no less. The woman he swore he wanted nothing more to do with. “You are the only one for me, Bethy, you know that. Alicia is in the past. She was too complicated, always wanting more. I need a girl like you, one who knows her worth without all the trappings,” he had told her on one of their early encounters. Right before I tumbled on the bed with him, she groaned to herself.

“Oh, there you are,” Mrs. Atchison said, nearly running into Beth when she rounded the corner. “You need to return home to pack,” she said, looking away uncomfortably.

“Pack? Why do I need to pack?”

“You are going to Cromwell House in Wales.”

“But why? Why am I being sent away? I do not understand,” Beth implored.

Shaking her head sadly, Mrs. Atchison replied, “I know, child, I know.”

***

I guess he kept his promise, Beth thought, watching Hearst House slowly recede as the carriage carried her to her new destination.

Staying True to Legends

Published by sunnflr under from the author Edit This

As you all know, I’m doing a vampire story. I’ve never did one before, although I have watched movies about them plenty of times. What I’m wondering is this…can you change things around on stories like this? Make stuff up as you go along? Or should you always stick with the tried and true stuff from legend?

For instance, could I make up new ways to kill vampires in my story? Or am I supposed to stick with the stake through the heart, garlic, and sunlight stuff. I would like to make up my own things, but don’t want to if it’s just never done. Any opinions?

I’m going to ask this on the Accentuate Writers Forum also. I figure there are enough writers on there that someone will have to know the answer. I’d love to hear what everyone else thinks too though.

Picking Characters for Short Stories

Published by sunnflr under from the author Edit This

How do you pick the characters for your stories? Do they just come to you? Are they created off of people you know in real life? What is your process for picking fictional characters?

Until recently I just made them up off the fly. For my last story, Night Stalker, I’ve created a few of the characters off of people I know. Not that the characters are anything like the people, just general things. The ages, races, hair color, all that are not the same. It has been fun using real people to base the characters off of though. I don’t really know why even.

Have you ever done this? What did the person think?

So far everyone is ok with me using them in my story. I’ll be sure and give them credit if I become famous…he he.

Tell me about the characters in your latest story!
