Karma

This is my contribution to the Sunday Scribblings prompt. Just goes to show that what goes around comes around!

Charles nudged Rob and pointed at the girl just coming through the door. Laughing he said, “That one would probably go out with you.”

“Very funny. You know I don’t date fat women. That’s not my style, buddy.” Rob smirked.

The girl in question was thankfully unaware of their conversation. She made her way through the crowed room and sat down with her date.

“How about the redhead over there by the bar?” Charles inquired.

Rob stood up to see who Charles was talking about. The lady in question was slim with beautiful red hair flowing down her back. Rob thought Charles might have hit on a good one this time and put his beer down to go talk to her.

About half way there she turned towards him. He stopped in his tracks and ran back to Charles as fast as he could. Charles was laughing hysterically.

“That was just wrong, man!” Rob told Charles with a look over his shoulder.

The redhead smiled widely, showing off her braces to the fullest, at the man coming in the door. As he passed, Rob and Charles saw the name tag on his coat that said Dr. James, DMD.

“She’s dating a dentist. How fitting,” Rob said as Charles choked on his beer.

“Whoa, now that is one sweet honey!” Charles breathed.

Rob slowly turned. Having already been twice burned, he was sure Charles was pulling another stunt. When he saw her, his heart about stopped. She was the most gorgeous woman he’d ever seen. Tall and slim, with blonde hair and blue eyes. And a smile that could stop traffic.

Rob couldn’t believe his luck when he saw she was walking straight for him. Taking the stool next to Rob’s, the woman placed her purse on the bar and ordered a scotch.

“Let me get that for you,” Rob offered.

The woman looked him up and down. Rob wasn’t worried. He knew he looked good. He worked out regularly and dressed well.

You could have knocked him over with a feather when the woman replied, “No thanks, you’re not my style,” and headed to a table in the corner where a guy wearing a bow tie sat.

Very Good. Rob deserved a kick in the head for being so shallow.

Thank you all! I’m always glad when people like my stories.

B, it was 368 words. I’m really into flash fiction/micro fiction these days.
