Renewing Your Vows

Published by sunnflr at 12:16 pm under Life Edit This

Have any of your renewed your wedding vows? I really want to do this! My husband is up for the idea also. We just have to come up with the money to make it happen. Our twentieth wedding anniversary is in two more years. We are thinking of trying it then. Of course I’ve wanted to do it on our 10th and 15th anniversaries also and haven’t made it yet!

If you did renew your vows, how did you do it? Was it a big affair or very simple? Did you have a preacher or justice of the peace or was it just the two of you? Did you were formal or casual wear?

I’ve did some reading up on the subject lately and it seems anything goes for renewal services. You can make them as grand or as simple as you wish. Everything I’ve read said it depends on how the first wedding was done to some extent. For example, if you had a very small inexpensive wedding the first time then you might want to do it up big for the renewal service. If you had a very lavish wedding then the renewal service might just be more a dinner party type event.

There are some things that are no no’s for renewal services. Every place I read said this.

·         No attendants

·         No bachelor or bachelorette parties

·         Don’t register for gifts

Makes sense if you think about it. Those are all things for people getting married the first time. Old married couples have already done them.

We are really thinking of doing this. We don’t want a really big renewal service, but not the dinner party type either. Our first wedding was very simple. It cost less than 500.00 if that tells you anything. We had a cake, preacher, and little reception. The reception foods were the cake, chips, and cokes. We were only 17 and 18 years old at the time, so didn’t have a lot of money.

We’d like to make the renewal a little better than that. We enjoyed our first wedding and everything has worked out, but a more traditional wedding would be nice. We want the world to know that we still love each other and want to be together. I think that’s what renewal services are all about!

If anybody has had a renewal service I’d love to hear from you.
