Internet Friends
I am in an email loop with some women. We all met through a weight loss board almost nine years ago now. The loop is about so much more than weight loss at this point. We talk about everything that goes on in each other’s lives. I don’t know what I would do without my Internet friends.
Some of us have met in person. We had one buddy reunion that involved five of us and our families. That was loads of fun. We all met in Florida at a motel and just spent time together. It was the first time the families had met each other or talked so it was pretty cool.
I have met with one of my Internet friends on more occasions also. It has been a few years though.
I would really love to have another buddy reunion, but life keeps getting in the way for all of us. Hopefully we can arrange another one sometime.
I talk with this group of women about everything. They know my family, about my health, share my writing, and are just real friends. Even though we communicate over the Internet, we couldn’t be better friends!
Do you have Internet friends? Do you consider them “real” friends? What does your family think?
I think it is great that you all get together. It does seem that life can get in the way so much of time.
Yeah,and the price of travel is so expensive these days. Still, maybe we can make it happen again one day.
I don’t use the term “friend” lightly. I never have. But I have met one person on the internet that I immediately connected with. She is definitely a friend in every sense of the word, even though we have not met in person…yet. We talk daily and I would do anything for her.
Maybe y’all can meet in person one of these days. I believe there are lots of true friends made on the Internet.
