Writing Prompts

Published by sunnflr under Writing Edit This

Do any of you know any good writing prompt sites? I’m having fun with my new blog that I’m putting my writing on. I’m using writing prompts to work from. So far I’m using Weekend Wordsmith, Simply Snickers, 100 Words, and 1000 Word Meme. I like all of them, but would love to find some more.

Have you tried writing a poem or story from a writing prompt? It’s pretty cool. The prompts are either one or two words, a sentence or quote, or a picture. That’s all you get. You write whatever you want off of it. Some of the sites have guidelines, such as the 100 words site. You have to use exactly 100 words, no more, no less. It could be challenging. The 1000 word meme doesn’t have a limit. Its name is off of a picture being worth a thousand words.

If you haven’t tried writing from prompts you should have a go at it. It’s fun. If any of you use the one’s I’ve mentioned please let me know. I try to go back and read all the entries each week. If you’d like to see some of my writing you can find the blog in my links. It’s called Angel Sharum’s Story Board.

If you know of any good writing prompt sites please leave me a comment!

Mama Got Some New Clothes

Published by sunnflr under Life Edit This

Yep, my husband made me buy some new clothes. He said he was tired of seeing me wear the same two pair of pants all the time. You see, I’ve been trying to lose weight. Even though I’ve been doing really good with my eating and getting in exercise, I’m not losing, just maintaining my weight. It’s very frustrating. If you’d like to read about the weight loss struggle from Hell, check out my other blog called Health and Happiness.

Anyway, the other day we went to Kohl’s and I got four new outfits. I feel so much better in my new clothes! I’m still the same weight obviously, but I look better in them. I bought some boot cut jeans which look better on me with my big booty. The pants I had before were tapered. All you women know how bad that is!

Hopefully I will lose a few pounds soon. Even if I do, I will still be able to wear the new clothes for a while. I’m so short that it takes around twenty pounds before I can really tell a difference in the way my clothes fit.

If you need new clothes and are waiting until you lose weight, don’t! Go buy some new duds! You won’t regret it.

Fall Television Shows

Published by sunnflr under Life Edit This

I’m sure we all have our favorites, I know I do. I’m so glad the new shows are finally coming back on. I have to get creative with what I watch in the summer. I do see a lot more movies during that time though. So what are your favorite shows?

I like watching these:

All the Law & Orders

ER

House (my all time favorite show)

Medium

CSI (original)

There are other shows I watch some of the time, but those are my favorites. I have saw other shows I thought would be good but they come on the same time as one of the above so I will never know if I’d really like them or not.

Do y’all watch any of those? Anybody else out there that just loves House? Tell me about your favorites.

Crime and Suspense Authors

Published by sunnflr under Life Edit This

I love reading crime and suspense books. I like trying to figure the end out early and guess the real motive. I also like reading about the forensics and all the technical stuff. I thought there might be some more crime and suspense lovers out there, so decided to list the names of some of the authors I like.

Here is my list in no particular order.

Jeffery Deaver

Patricia Cromwell

John Sanford

Ridley Pearson

Lee Child

There are others I like also, but those are the ones I’ve read the most often. I love reading series involving the same main character. Patricia Cromwell, John Sanford, and Lee Child offer a great lead character in their books!

Let me know of any authors you recommend. I’d love to find some new people to read.

Writing the Perfect Bio

Published by sunnflr under Writing Edit This

I am a freelance writer. I have a bio up on different sites, but I’m not completely happy with it. It just doesn’t have that special something that makes me love it, know what I mean?

Michelle L. Devon has a wonderful bio about her writing career and. If you don’t know Michelle, you should check her blog out, especially if you are thinking of a freelancing career. You can find a link to the blog in my blog roll. It’s called Freelancing. Anyway, I want a bio that sounds good like that.

The problem is, I can’t come up with anything. I have tweaked my bio so many times it isn’t funny, and it’s still lacking something. I know if I ever win any contests or get a short story published, I’ll have more credentials to add to the bio, but I should be able to make a good one with the accomplishments I have already.

I’m sure I’ll get it the way I like it one of these days. Here’s what I have so far. Please tell me what you think.

Angel Sharum is a freelance writer. She writes non-fiction articles on topics ranging from self-help to hiking, and fiction in the form of short stories. She loves sharing her views and opinions with others through her articles, and enjoys letting people into her imagination through her short stories.

There, that’s it. Something’s just not right! Any suggestions?

Photography

Published by sunnflr under Photography Edit This

I am an amateur photographer. I love taking pictures of nature, animals, and family. I even take pictures of things like rocks and signs. Anything that strikes my fancy is fair game.

One of my favorite places to take pictures is hiking trails. Nature offers so many wonderful, beautiful things to capture in photographs. The leaves changing colors, wild animals, flowers, and streams are some of my favorite things in nature to take pictures of.

I have a digital camera that I use. I love my camera! I didn’t know if I would at first. I’ve only had it a few years. I thought it wouldn’t make pictures as good as my old 35 mm camera, but I was wrong. It actually makes better pictures. Now I want an upgraded digital camera…he he. I’ll get one someday, after the bills are paid off.

Are there any other photographers out there? What’s your favorite thing to take pictures of?

Here’s a picture I took that I really like.

The Biggest Loser

Published by sunnflr under Life Edit This

I like watching the show, but sometimes they make me mad. The Dad on the yellow team lost five pounds this week and his daughter lost six. They needed to lose thirteen to stay above the yellow line. The host asked the Dad if he felt like he let his daughter down. He almost cried. I don’t see any reason she had to ask that. The daughter said he didn’t let her down; she’s just proud he’s there and trying.

Five pounds is a lot in one week for most people! How could that be a letdown in any sense of the word! I just feel that sometimes they make it harder emotionally on the contestants that they need to. The show is supposed to be encouraging people and helping, not making them feel bad.

I do like that it helps people get their health back; I just wish some of the stuff was left unsaid.

Just my little rant!

My Husband’s Coming Home

Published by sunnflr under Family Edit This

I’m so happy! I hope he gets to stay home for a while this time. I really hope no more storms come through any time soon. I don’t know what people in the areas they hit will do if another comes too soon.

They get to take the rest of the week off which will be nice. We could use some catch up time.

He said they asked to go to Galveston and work, but the state said they had enough people working there already. They portion the work out between the companies. At least they offered to stay and help more.

The work is hard but very satisfying for them. My husband said it makes him feel really good knowing he’s helping people. I’m glad he is able to do it.

I hope the other companies get everyone’s power back on soon. I can’t imagine being without power for any length of time. I’ve never had to go through it. I wish the best for all of them.

Let’s all pray and cross our fingers that no more storms come there any time soon!

Internet Friends

Published by sunnflr under Life Edit This

I am in an email loop with some women. We all met through a weight loss board almost nine years ago now. The loop is about so much more than weight loss at this point. We talk about everything that goes on in each other’s lives. I don’t know what I would do without my Internet friends.

Some of us have met in person. We had one buddy reunion that involved five of us and our families. That was loads of fun. We all met in Florida at a motel and just spent time together. It was the first time the families had met each other or talked so it was pretty cool.

I have met with one of my Internet friends on more occasions also. It has been a few years though.

I would really love to have another buddy reunion, but life keeps getting in the way for all of us. Hopefully we can arrange another one sometime.

I talk with this group of women about everything. They know my family, about my health, share my writing, and are just real friends. Even though we communicate over the Internet, we couldn’t be better friends!

Do you have Internet friends? Do you consider them “real” friends? What does your family think?

Blogging

Published by sunnflr under Writing Edit This

Are you addicted to blogging?

I was talking with a friend last night and she asked me how many blogs I have now. I looked, and I have 12 active blogs. I have one other one that still needs work before it goes live. All of them are about different things, with some overlap every now and then. It wasn’t long ago that I had no blogs. It’s certainly been a big change in my life.

I am enjoying doing all of them. I do wish I got more comments. I’m working on drawing more people to the blogs. Hopefully they’ll all pick up soon. I try to write interesting stuff, but my topics aren’t things that everyone is interested in. I have no money making or sex blogs for instance; just blogs about writing, my life, health, photography, and outdoor activities. Things I’m interested in myself that I know something about and can write on.

I guess if I really wanted to make money blogging I’d do some about the popular topics. But sometimes it seems there are so many of those around that people will eventually get tired of them. I don’t know, just my opinion.

So, how many blogs do you have? Do you keep them updated? I try to update my blogger blogs every few days, and I have been doing my today blogs every day. I have to do this in between my freelance writing and general life. It’s not easy all the time!

Blogging is fun though, so I’m sure I’ll keep it up for a while. My newest blog features some of my flash fiction, poetry, and a few cartoons with stories. I think I’m going to enjoy doing it the best!

If you have a favorite blog tell me about it so I can check it out!
